![]() One more comment, this is a so-called Display font which means it is designed for use at large font sizes ( for posters, billboards etc.) so its spacing and shapes can be different from the regular versions. ![]() Otherwise you could search Google for a TTF version, e.g. There is font conversion software (free and paid) that can convert from OTF to TTF and vice versa, so if you need or really want to use this font you may want to explore that option. Maybe knows which versions of Unicode and OpenType Vectorworks support, as it may be that the Unicode and/or OpenType format version is older than supported by Vectorworks. I've downloaded it and opened the font, it is from 2002 and probably uses Unicode 3.3 (current version is Unicode 6) and there are various OpenType format versions as well, OpenType version 1.8 being the most recent. There are good quality free fonts but are also quite a lot that do have some issues one way or another. Upon searching for the font I noticed it is a free font. Vectorworks 2018 can use OpenType fonts in PostScript style since 2017, at least it does on my system, so it may be an issue with your font file. DTP software (Illustrator, InDesign, CorelDRAW, Affinity, QuarkXpress, Photoshop etc.) should handle all these fonts without issues. As a rule of thumb non-DTP software works better with TrueType or OpenType TrueType fonts and does not always support PostScript or OpenType PostsSript fonts. Postscript uses a different way of defining contours than TrueType and its internal formatting is a bit different. Yes, in the past Vectorworks could not handle OpenType fonts with Postscript outline (other CAD software and other kinds of software cannot handle Postscript style OpenType fonts either, though DTP software should not have that issue). Other downloaded fonts (Graphite ATT in particular) are working just fine, but they are TTF's. I am just using the Windows font manager. You may get lucky and delete the corrupted file or folder without needing to delete all of the files, thereby saving some or all of your preferences and settings. It is OTF with PostScript Outlines (I have no idea what that means). Then try launching quark to see if it worked. For example first try deleting just the folder named “PSProfileCache” and/or “PPD”. You could first try just deleting or moving some of the files in case you want to (hopefully) be able to avoid losing your settings. Now try launching Quark again and hopefully it will launch successfully! This removes all of your old preferences and clears the cache so keep in mind that most or all of your settings will be lost. You will want to delete that entire “Quark” directory. The location is: C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Quark On Windows 7, 8, and 10 you will want to go to the following folder, copy it and make a backup of the folder somewhere like on your desktop, then delete the entire folder. The solution every time this has happened to me has been to delete the local preferences and cache folder so that QuarkXpress will create a new set of preferences and reload the cache the next time you try to start it. As far as I can tell, I did not do anything to cause a corrupted file, but it may be that somehow Quark did not shut down correctly or maybe just experienced a bug. This appears to be the result of a corrupted file, probably a cache file or preferences file. Solution! How to fix the problem with QuarkXpress not loading: However as far as I can tell this problem can occur somewhat regularly on newer versions like Quark 9 and 10 as well. I’m still using Quark Xpress 8.5 which at this point is several versions old. This problem persists after rebooting the system and is present despite no other programs running on the computer. Clicking to wait or search for a solution does not help. If you click on the splash screen, it will gray out and Windows will say the program is not responding. When you launch QuarkXpress via a shortcut, doubleclicking on the executable, or any other method, the Quark Express splash screen shows up for a few seconds, then disappears and the program does not launch. With only occasional use of Quark, I’ve still run into this problem about once or twice a year. ![]() This is a short article to help anyone else who may be experiencing this problem, but also as a way to remind myself the next time this problem happens to me. Solution to fixing this occasional problem in Quark Xpress.
